Department of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Psychology
The Department was established in the year 1999. It has a good academic environment and provides excellent opportunity for the all round development of students. To enable the learning both enjoyable and employable, the Department plans various academic and co-curricular activities like Seminars, Conferences, Workshops, Film review etc.
On the occasion of the decennial celebrations, the Department of Post Graduate Studies & Research in Psychology, SDM College , Ujire is organizing a National Conference on “Sexuality & Psychology”. The study of sexuality has developed significantly since the past few decades. It has gained a lot of importance and has been a debatable issue for a long time. The 2 day conference will be held on 29th & 30th January 2010 and will focus on the following domains-
Alternate Sexuality
Child & Adolescent Sexuality
Adult Sexuality
There will also be a panel discussion on “Sexuality in the 21st century”

The different themes under the above domains are:
Alternative sexuality and Orientation
Developmental perspective to sexuality
Technology and Sexuality
Assessment and intervention Approaches to sexual disorders
Ethical and Legal issues
Role of culture in sexuality
Myths, taboos, Stereotypes & misconceptions about sexuality
Influences on sexuality

Call for Paper/Poster Presentation: We welcome papers/posters from students, research scholars and faculty members who are interested to understand the facets of sexuality. We particularly welcome papers/posters that explore the psychological aspects involved in sexuality. Empirical and Theoretical papers/posters are appreciated and the papers/posters will be considered under any of the themes mentioned.
The 200 to 250 word abstract of the paper should be submitted by October 31st 2009. The notification regarding the selected abstracts will be conveyed via email (preferred) after which the full paper should be submitted by November 30th 2009 . Please use plain text (Times New Roman 12) and avoid any special formatting. We will acknowledge the receipt of the papers and answer to all papers submitted.
